Love Music Hate Racism at Northern Quarter 2024

On Thursday 4th July’s election day, Love Music Hate Racism (LMHR) hosted a free entry event at the charming music venue, Northern Quarter on Wood Street, Huddersfield, for the ‘Stop the Hate Tour’. They were raising awareness and funds for LoveMusic HateRacism and Immigration & Asylum Support Kirklees, (I-ASK).

LMHR uses the energy and vibrancy of the music scene to promote unity and celebrate diversity through education and events. Our message is simple, there is more that unites us than divides us; and nothing demonstrates this more than music.

As well as a range of fantastic local Musicians, there were also Guest Speakers, Live Graffart, and I-ASK were selling raffle tickets for an array of fantastic prizes, including the art that was created on the night by artist, Oliver Lancaster.

Some impressive acts played in the “open mic” sections. Here’s Ras from Huddersfield Freedom for Palestine – Peace for All campaign taking part in the #stopthehate tour.

Guest Speakers included Morgan Jones (I-ASK), Pat Jones (LMHR), and Dave Green (Stand Up to Racism).

Also a special shout out to Lindon Nugent who compered the event and performed in the open mic.

LMHR had a great turnout and I-ASK raised several hundred pounds to fund their future activities.

Huddersfield is such a multi-cultural town so events like this are incredibly important for inclusivity and awareness-raising. Here in Huddersfield, we say, “You are welcome” so let’s make it a place of sanctuary for all.

Here’s Pat Fulgoni on the Speak Up Thursday radio show talking about the LMHR Huddersfield Chapter and the great work of the Huddersfield based Cocoa Butter Project. https://www.lovemusichateracism.com/speakupthursday-featuring-pat-fulgoni/

T-shirts available on the LMHR website.

Keep up the fantastic work.
