Joshi Da Ghost (Formerly known as KD)

Joshi has been on the Huddersfield and West Yorkshire scene for around 20 years now. Starting out as a Hip-hop/Grime rapper in a crew called DBP in Brighouse, performing at local events in venues such as Bar 1:22, Flying Circus, and Eden.

He built his first recording studio in 2009 where many of Huddersfield’s rappers would come to record Grime and Hiphop tracks. Joshi also dabbled in beat making and production, and went on to study ‘Music Tech’ at Calderdale College.

Joshi has also been involved in various other local music events over the years such as; Beats & Pieces Hiphop, running and organising it alongside Megamouth, Sub:Cult, and Motion as an Mc/Host; Madfresh as an organiser and promoter; Future Formation as an Mc/Host; Fresh Kids as a host; G.O.D Soundsystem as an Mc/Host; and many others in between.

Joshi was one of the main people involved in the setting up and running of Unit 7 Studio alongside Dominic Mills and others, which provided a hub for local artists to record music and develop themselves in a positive environment, around experienced, creative mentors.

Joshi has gained a lot of respect locally for his work over the years and is still very much active in Huddersfield.

Now the leader of a team which runs an event called BYOB – Beats, Bars & Burners (alongside Kemetstry, Samwise, Spoken Audio, and Grymus) which is an open mic and live graffiti event based at Northern Quarter in Huddersfield.

Joshi is continuing to support his local community by providing opportunities for up-and-coming talent to show what they can do alongside already established artists.
