Reiki Healing Sessions with Jolene
Reiki is a Japanese Healing Technique that supports physical, mental, emotional and spiritual healing and well-being. Reiki promotes deep relaxation and it can be hugely beneficial for both humans and animals.
Jolene’s sessions last 30 minutes or 1 hour and take place in a lovely, calming environment. Distance healing is also available. Jolene trained with Chris Krow Summers at ‘LifeForce Reiki’ (based in Wakefield) between 2004 and 2017. She is trained to ‘Reiki Master Teacher’ level.
Location: 10-15 minute walk from Huddersfield train station and bus station.

Safe Zone at Delicious Desserts

Busking
You no longer need to buy a license to ‘busk’ in Kirklees. The council has scrapped the license requirement, but performers must still follow a code of conduct to ensure they don’t cause a nuisance, and they should consider the needs of the town. This includes not blocking pavements, not making too much noise, nor engaging in street trading, for which a separate permit is required.

Andy’s Man Club (National)
Peer-to-Peer, non-judgemental, support groups for men (aged 18+).
“It’s okay to talk”  but there is no pressure to talk, you are welcome to just listen.

Men’s supportive Huddersfield Walking Group to improve/support mental health & well-being.
Location: Meets at the Harold Wilson Statue in front of Huddersfield train station every Monday at 6.30pm.
Walks usually last around an hour. Just turn up to this welcoming group.

Inspire North
CLEAR – Community Links Engagement and Recovery Service
Provides a 2-year programme of activities and courses, in Huddersfield and Dewsbury, to improve and support mental health and well-being. Regular key-working sessions are also offered to support you in your CLEAR journey.

Huddersfield Mission & Cafe
A community cafe in the heart of Huddersfield town centre providing low-cost nutritious hot & cold food and drinks, and a welcoming space for anyone in the community. They especially support vulnerable members of our communities. The Mission also offers various support services like advice, IT access, and many social activities. It is wheelchair accessible and is a key part of the Huddersfield Mission’s work to support people with complex needs.
They also have meeting rooms for hire.

Practical Help in Huddersfield (food, toiletries, clothing, home starter packs, etc):

The Welcome Centre:
A local charity on Lord Street in the town centre (within the ring road) that provides emergency food, toiletry and cleaning parcels, nappies, and pet food, as well as ‘home starter packs’ which can include essential items such as kettle, toaster, crockery, cutlery, pots & pans, towels and bedding.
You need a referral to access this support.

How to get a Referral:
  1. If you already receive support from a service or professional, you7nbsp; can ask them to make a referral for you.
  2. If not, you can telephone Kirklees Local Welfare Provision Team (LWP) on 01484 414 782 Monday to Friday, 10am-3pm or email lwp@kirklees.gov.uk
  3. You can also pop into the Methodist Mission, next door to The Welcome Centre, and ask them for a referral.

Food Share at The Branch

Every Friday in person between 1.30pm and 2.30pm. Just turn up.

Location: Open market stall next to Tesco, town centre. (On wet & windy days it is held in Tesco underground car park). Hot food to eat there or take home, as well as sandwiches, fruit, biscuits and hot drinks. Availability varies.
